Midwest Ford Fest Show Recap
Presented by Keen Wealth Advisors
The day started off a little moist due to the morning dew. Once the sun came up, everything quickly dried off and we were on our way to great day. The cars started lining up before the 8AM gate opening. Once they were through the gate, they were quickly parked as they came into the show.
At every show, the Midwest Blue Oval Club honors the veterans and active duty military personnel. The Blue Springs High School Air Force JROTC and their instructor, AF MSGT (Ret) Kyle Douglass presented our nations colors followed by the National Anthem. After the National Anthem, we do a reading about a significant point of military history, this was the 50th Anniversary of the end of the Viet Nam war. Below is the text from the reading:
Approximately 2.7 million Americans served in the Vietnam war from 1961 to 1975. Over 58,000 soldiers lost their lives and over 153,000 were wounded while countless others struggle daily being exposed to the chemicals that were used and psychological issues. At the time, it was the longest war America had ever fought.
During the war, there were countless protest, demonstrations and sit-ins which four people died during the Kent State University protest. On April 30, 1975, Saigon fell to the hands of North Vietnam. Since then, over 2,600 Americans were listed as unaccounted for and over 1,300 were classified as Missing in Action or Prisoners of War.
This year marks 50 years since the end of the Vietnam war. A war that will never be forgotten.
Let’s have a moment of silence for all those brave men and women of our armed forces.
The Midwest Blue Oval Club is recognizing the veterans and active-duty personnel of our armed forces. We have some plagues to be presented to those veterans and active-duty personnel. This is our way of showing our appreciation to those who fight and have fought for the freedom of our country that we enjoy today.
Please give these brave men and women a hand.
We want to give a special thank you to the Blue Springs High School Air Force JROTC for the amount of professionalism and dedication they have displayed at the show. Their parents should be very proud of them. We hope you come back again next year.
